Waiting For A Breakthrough – Poem

Who am I

A question we all ask but why

Looking for the meaning of life

Yet this life cuts like a knife

A wound deep beneath the skin

Almost like it was built-in

Why do I have this pain

Building up like a bad sprain

Everyone offers help to lift you up

But that is only a momentary pickup

So today who has reached out

Who has helped me with this doubt

I implore you to never give up

Stop trying to cover-up

All the pain that holds you down

All the pain that causes you to frown

All the pain that makes you feel let down

All the pain that makes you want to breakdown

There has to be more

Than what you can buy in the store

I want you to keep singing

Your voice always in my ear bringing

My spirit up

Even when I have a buildup

Of pain

All caught in my brain

But the easy answer

Is there is no cure for cancer

Who dealt me these cards

I have always been on guard

Trying to protect the ones I love

Keep them close to me like a glove

But no matter how hard I try

The end continues to draw nigh

I want to enjoy today

Please don’t push me away

I know you are scared

But that is why Jesus shared

His life on the cross

To remind satan that He was the boss

Today I plead with you

To let go of everything that is making you blue

It is time to restore all that is true

God’s word kicks evil like Kung Fu

I can’t pull you through

But if you have faith Jesus will come through

Can I ask you a question

Will you stop all the aggression

Will you begin with confession

This is just my suggestion

Faith removes the depression

And leaves a positive impression

We are made in the image of God

Except Adam & Eve allowed us to become flawed

Nonetheless by the grace of God

We can now applaud

For God has given us a way

So we will no longer betray

The Son of Man

This has been God’s plan

To sacrifice His only Son

He said “it is finished” & then it was done

God help me remain strong

All the day long

Even when life happens

Help me to continue laughing

I give my life to You

I am waiting for a breakthrough

We Didn’t Plan This – Poem

How can you understand

Cancer was never planned

How did this happen

Where is your compassion

People complaining about nothing

Always talking about something

Yet this pain is not leaving

Here I am grieving

The world constantly deceiving

Yet the sheep are still unbelieving

How can I move forward

The questions sound like a broken recorder

How is she doing

Questions sound like they are interviewing

We are waiting on a miracle

Something that is biblical

Not searching for “a” healer

Yet constantly checking for a fever

Looking for “The Healer”

To bind up the cancer like a concealer

Not just hide it

But transform it

Remove the cells that are attacking

While the doctors are tracking

So they can see

That God can do anything

Meanwhile I get inspired

Even when I am tired

God keeps speaking to my mind

Wanting me to reach out to the blind

I am just a man looking to share God’s plan

I reached out to this particular man

Where is the man that wanted to be

More than what the world said he could achieve

A man chasing after God

Instead of trying to avoid the rod

Common man don’t give me this or that

It is time to get back on track

What more are you waiting for

God is standing, knocking, on your front door❗️🚪

I can’t save you

But I can remind you

Jesus died to save you

He won’t run from you

No matter how long it takes

He waits patiently even when we try to be fake

Our feelings may be hurt

Put back on your shirt

Nobody wants to see that

It is time to fall flat

On our faces

And get back in God’s good graces. 🙏

I praise God for my pain

Because He allows me to see through the rain

It is just a storm

The prayers continue to transform

All my pain into a testimony

No I am not trying to be phony

My story is not over

It is hard to find like a 4 leaf clover

Buried among many chapters

I am praying for the rapture

Jesus I don’t know how much more I can take

Take a hold of my soul and shake

Cause me to remain strong

Continue to show me where I belong

Your power is stronger

And keeps me fighting longer

Hold me up

Fill my cup

Cause me to overflow

Pour out so others may grow

Closer to You Lord

It is You alone that I adore❗️

Now That Is Something I Can Applaud❗️ – Poem

Don’t be so raw that you’re hard

Words so sharp they cut like a chard

We need people that speak truth

Bring back that old phone booth

Super Man lost his cover

It’s time for us to rediscover

Jesus died for your heart

He took the shot like a fiery dart

Satan tried Him

God saved Him

Rose again like a boss

But you too busy shopping at Ross

Looking for a bargain

Meanwhile Jesus rose again

He wants to save you

Ring that up, that is true

Stop trying to blow money on worldly things

Salvation is better than a diamond ring

No matter how many times

I keep spitting the same rhyme

It falls on death ears

Too busy drinking them beers

Does the truth hurt

You to busy trying to flirt

Looking for love in all the wrong places

But even CSI can’t find any traces

Love is not found just anywhere

Love is it found at the fair

Love is not found in any pair

Jesus died to remove the despair

Jesus is love

He came from above

To take it all on the cross

To give you access to come across

There is only one way

Don’t let anyone lead you astray

Jesus is the only

Stop falling for the phony

The one true God

Now that is something I can applaud❗️

Do You Remember When…

Do you remember the first time you received bad news? Last week my wife was in the hospital with what everyone thought was pneumonia. The doctor did a bronchoscopy and didn’t find any tumors so we thought we were in the clear. The biopsy takes a couple of days to come back. I was the first one to get the phone call and the doctor said, “it is cancer.” I was immediately in shock, I didn’t know how to respond, well how could I other then scream internally and question God why why why?

Kristeen’s mom died from lung cancer that metastasized to her brain about 3.5 years ago, but her mom smoked and was much older. I couldn’t comprehend how this could be happening to such a young woman. My wife has been such a giving person of herself and her time to so many people. I immediately thought God I am not ready to give my wife to you, I need her here, my kids need her here.

Yesterday we met with the oncologist and he gave us what the treatment options are. Of course I wasn’t thrilled with our options or the fact that this cancer is not cureable according to modern day medicine, but I still hold on to the fact that I serve a miracle working God and just because the doctors say there is no way doesn’t mean that God can’t do it. My dad was told he would never walk again and he has been walking for many years still.

The prognosis was very scary, I won’t lie about that, but I had to ask what the doctors thought about how much more time I would have with my wife. Some of you may know and understand that Kristeen is at stage 4 and the cancer has spread from her lungs, to her bones, and even to her brain. I try not to focus on the time we have left, but instead leave time in God’s hand while I take in every moment I have left with my bride. I love my wife and wouldn’t trade her for anything in the world.

I will leave everyone with this, don’t take anything for granted and be thankful for everything that God has blessed you with because in an instant everything can change.

Love Is Tricky – Poem

Love isn’t just an emotion

Or even a magic potion

God designed it with a purpose

He provides a surplus

When you are all alone

You can feel Him in your bones

Your eyes can not see

But in the Trinity there is three

Why do we not trust

Broken down with rust

Bent out of shape

Pieced together with tape

Lord we hurt so much

We long for Your touch

Shine your light upon us

Help me not to cuss

So many thoughts trapped inside

How come I can’t find a bride

I want to feel complete

I want someone sweet

To have and to hold

Before I get too old

Show me your plan

Teach me to be a fisherman

Not just for someone for me

But also to help others see

That Your plan is better

For You I write this letter

Help me to love

Help me to find truelove

I am willing to trust my life to You

Make my dark skies turn blue

With Christ I can overcome

Help me to become

The person you made me to be

Together let’s agree

That alone I will fail

But with You I can sail

No longer left all alone

Because you have shown

Me how to love and expect nothing

Your love is very touching

With You I am made whole

I have finally found my self-control

Bring me someone special

I promise to be careful

Love them like You have loved me

Together we will cross the sea

Whatever it takes

No matter how high the stakes

We will give you the glory

And that is my story…

No More Tears Of Sorrow – Poem

Have you ever felt battered?

Have you ever felt tattered?

Have you ever felt scattered?

Like nothing really mattered?

Pushed to the edge

Forced to recite a pledge

Yet not understanding

How am I even still standing

How can I get out

Trying to scream and shout

No voice comes out

Feeling nothing but doubt

Flooding to capacity

Can you believe the audacity

Who can I tell

That I am living in hell

Burning with emotion

Like a raging ocean

But all you see is

Nothing but bubbles & fizz

There is more than you know

Can you see the plateau

Things continue to come up

Life is full of buildup

One thing after another

Have you told your brother

Keeping it all in

Is like trying to hide sin

It continues to boil

Until it smells spoiled

Rotten, stinking like day old fish

Whatever happened to my wish

The truth is the devil is a liar

He tries to make you walk the wire

High above the world with nothing below

To soften the blow

As he tries to repeatedly knock you down

Turning your smile into a frown

He knows how to push your buttons

Until all of a sudden

You fall off the wire

Into his well kept fire

He loved when you would admire

Yourself, & change your attire

Until it was all about you

No God No friends just little old you

Separated we will surely fail

No one there to post bail

But yet there was one

Everyone called Him the Son

A man who came into this world as a baby

Will you accept Him, well maybe

Why are you not sure

Didn’t you read the brochure

Jesus died for the lost

To pay the cost

That no one could

Because who else would

Give up their life for what

There is no other shortcut

There is only one way to Heaven

Even though false preachers make up 7

Do you know the truth

It is sweeter than a Baby Ruth

God’s plan to save all mankind

You just have to open your mind

Read the gospel and receive His word

Now you can never say you never heard

I try my best

To share this treasure chest

My hope is in the Lord

It is time to get onboard

Make the decision and let Him reign

Let Him remove all the pain

No more tears of sorrow

He holds tomorrow

If this wasn’t true

Then I would have blew

My brains out long ago

None of this is show

One day I sat on my bed

Wishing I was dead

I had the gun

Was ready for it to be done

But God did stop me

He opened my eyes to see

That suicide was just an excuse

That I shouldn’t choose

He had more for me to do

And today I know this is true

Nothing in life is easy

I pray my poem did not make you wheezy

Nothing more true than salvation

That is available for every tribe & nation

God I pray You continue to use me

Use me to share Thee

With You Lord we can overcome

All these feelings of being numb

Every day is a gift

Hold my hand so I never drift

Keep me in Your will

Until the day You come to fill

The prophecies have been told

Help me to remain bold

Hope Through Suffering – Sermon Notes

Thank you for joining us again at Faith Matters.  We are happy that you are here today to listen in to what God has placed on my heart.  For those of you that caught the last message, my leg is healing up nicely praise God!  I keep looking up at that tree and each time think of how it could have ended much differently, but God’s protection prevailed.  Today I don’t have a lot of back drop to share with how my week has been, but what I am going to share today is straight from my heart, please do not judge or hold any ill will against me, I think it is a must for me to share the struggles that I have been going through for the last 100 days.

Let’s open up with prayer.  Dear Lord, I pray that what I am about to discuss hits home with those who need this message.  Your people are battling some of things that I am going to cover on a daily basis.  Lord, help each of us to learn how to become more patient, slow to speak, slow to anger.  Without You Lord we can’t do it, but with You ALL things are possible.  God I thank you for pricking my heart and nudging me to share my story.  I pray that it helps others who are struggling.  Lord continue to use me, keep me humble, and let my words bring forth truth and give justice to the word of God.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

I wanted to share today the definition of broken:

  1. having been fractured or damaged and no longer in one piece or in working order.
  2. (of a person) having given up all hope; despairing. (defeated, beaten, subdued)

Broken can mean a lot of different things to different people.  What I want to talk about today is not an easy subject for me.  For the past 100+ days my wife has been battling with a headache that will not leave.  She has been seeing what they call “starbursts” in her vision.  She has been very weak, her skin has been sensitive just to a regular touch, and her feet have begun to hurt such that she can’t stand in place without have to lift one foot to give the other foot relief.  Instantly at this point you might say, “well, have you taken her to the doctor?”  Doctor visit has been her new middle name.  I wish we could buy stock in the doctor office because we have been there so many times this year.

What should have just been a possible sinus infection turned into so much more.  We went to our primary doctor to try and figure out what was going on.  The normal medicine didn’t seem to kick what we thought was a cold or maybe a sinus headache.  The pain in her head just kept going on and on.  The doctor began to order up the many different blood tests, she did a x-ray of her lower back where there was pain.  Lower back came back with some deterioration, but nothing out of the norm for a woman of her age.  All the blood test came back negative.  The doctor then ordered up a MRI and sent us to a neurologist.

The neurologist reviewed the MRI and compared it to the previous MRI and said that he couldn’t see anything wrong.  For most people this would be exciting, but for my wife it was nerve racking because the doctors still couldn’t explain her pain.  The neurologist advised to do some physical therapy on the neck at least once a week.  The physical therapy hasn’t really helped at all and the pain still continued.  I mentioned to her, “let’s get your eyes checked and see if the prescription needs to be updated.”  She scheduled that to be done and got her new pair of glasses, but that hasn’t helped the headache.  It is almost like no matter what we do, nothing is helping.  Have you ever been at that point?

As I am describing all of this to you, my wife has posted a few blogs about what she is facing.  Many people have offered prayers and that has been wonderful to see.  Some people expect that their prayer should heal my wife and the reality is that only God can heal her.  Don’t take this the wrong way, but if it is God’s will for her to suffer in this season then it won’t matter who prayers for her.  I say that with a grain of salt.  I don’t want my wife to suffer any moment longer and I have tried whatever I can, but to no avail at this point.  I told my wife, “what if God needs you to suffer right now so that you can reach and help others who are suffering?  So that you can share your story and bring them hope?”

2 Corinthians 12:1-10 Paul’s Visions and His Thorn

12 I must go on boasting. Though there is nothing to be gained by it, I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord. 2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows. 3 And I know that this man was caught up into paradise—whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows— 4 and he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter. 5 On behalf of this man I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except of my weaknesses— 6 though if I should wish to boast, I would not be a fool, for I would be speaking the truth; but I refrain from it, so that no one may think more of me than he sees in me or hears from me. 7 So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations,[a] a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

If Paul was allowed to suffer then how can we expect that God wouldn’t allow anyone of us to suffer also?  You see in pain our emotions become weak, but in that same weakness, God can show His strength.  Let me say that one more time.  You see in pain our emotions become weak, but in that same weakness, God can show His strength.

I don’t wish any pain upon anyone, but at least we should know that God is with us.  God will not give us more than we can handle.

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

Now this particular verse refers to temptation, but if we are weak, in pain, hurting, does our flesh not want to give up and fall to that temptation?  It is only in Christ that we can have the strength to not adhere to our flesh, but instead overcome the struggles.
Through all of this my wife has been a warrior.  She has not given up, she has battled and fought hard, but as this condition has set in, it has taken it’s toll on her.  The doctors have most recently come back and said that she has fibromyalgia.  For most of you, you probably are wondering what is that?  Don’t worry, I had to look up exactly what it was also.  As stated by the Mayo Clinic,

“Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way your brain processes pain signals.

Symptoms sometimes begin after a physical trauma, surgery, infection or significant psychological stress. In other cases, symptoms gradually accumulate over time with no single triggering event.

Women are much more likely to develop fibromyalgia than are men. Many people who have fibromyalgia also have tension headaches, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety and depression.

While there is no cure for fibromyalgia, a variety of medications can help control symptoms. Exercise, relaxation and stress-reduction measures also may help.”

Even with that last statement being said, “there is no cure for fibromyalgia”, I serve a powerful God.  I know that if and when God wants to heal her from this He can do it.  I will continue to seek Him and pray for my wife.  This battle is just another chapter of the book the Lord is writing in my wife’s life.  I pray that God uses her testimony for help many others see that God is good and that God can still be found in the midst of this storm.

Now that I have tried to explain to the best of my ability what is going on with her life, I want to turn this story slightly.  Many times we hear about a story from the perspective of the person that is suffering from a disease, sickness, or illness, but we don’t always hear from their spouse.  This is not about me, look at what I am doing, or trying to get any glory, but instead open a door to a situation that many never see or hear about it.

When my wife tells me she is in pain, I am a guy and my built in instinct wants to fix her.  Guess what, I can’t!  I have tried and tried and tried some more, but I have still failed in trying to help heal my wife.  It hurts my heart to know that she is struggling.  Have you ever seen a wounded dove and another dove stays behind to help her?  That is me, I am here trying to help my wounded spouse recover, overcome, and get through the day to day tasks.  Each day it is becoming harder and harder to see my wife suffer.  I thought this was only a temporary headache; the longer it has gone on, the more concerned I have become.

Many times I have ask God why her?  My wife has done a 180 degree turn since I met her, she got saved, found a whole new meaning to life in Christ, started singing, released an album, serves in a small group, volunteers at numerous events, worked in nursery, serves in our youth group, Lord why her?  You see, this is the struggle that you never hear or see.  The spouse who wants to help, but the circumstances are much bigger than me.  Only God can do this, I can only pray and seek His face.

When my wife is sleeping in bed, I pray for her, I look at her and wish there was something more that I could do.  Many times she has thought I didn’t care about her symptoms, but really I couldn’t let her see me cry and breakdown.  If I am not strong for her then I feel like I am failing her.  I struggle with the fact that I am helpless.  In any other situation I could protect her, but from this illness, I can only watch from the sidelines.  Sure I do what I can around the house like cooking, cleaning, and laundry because she hasn’t had the energy, but is that really enough?  The next thing we wanted to do was adopt a child, we are currently at the final stages, and yet I am here thinking can we really handle another kid in this household?  Will God give me the strength to care for another?  I have plenty of love to give, but will I have the strength to carry my family plus another?  So many questions swirling around in my head, yet I know that God will carry me through.  I continue to pray and ask God for His direction.  I don’t want to step off His path, the plans that He has, but it can be so difficult.  This verse helps me get through:

Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
You see when things get rough, when it looks like there is no way out, my option is to turn to God, to turn to Him in prayer.  Just ask the Lord to help.  The mind is a crazy thing, it can wander, it will tell you that you are not good enough, it will tell you that you can’t do this, it will tell you to give up, it will tell you to turn and run, but my God is not that way.  God brings me peace about this; God is the only thing that is keeping the joy in my life. I am looking at it from a whole different perspective and looking at Lord there has to be a reason and a purpose for this. Lord, there has to be somebody who has to hear her testimony, how she has battled this pain, how she has overcome it, how she has continued to look to You to get through.

This has nothing to do with me.  I am merely her support, I am merely here to help her when she gets down, I am merely here point her back to God when she thinks she can’t do it anymore.  But I am still just a human, I am still just a man and sometimes I can let doubt creep into my own life.  And I have to turn back and say alright Lord I need you to right my path, I need You to hold me up, I need you to give me everything that I need to get through today.

For those of you out there struggling, with so many different diseases and syndromes, lots of different things out there, I am not going to try and name them all.  There are so many different ones that people are battling from.  There is ones that I can’t even pronounce.  I saw someone the other day talking about this disease that they have and trying to encourage my wife and that they have been overcoming.  I have never even heard of the disease.  It can be scary, there are many things out there that the enemy will try to use to bring us down and keep us down.  You got to get back in the word, you have to read the scriptures.  The scriptures will bring you peace, the scriptures will give you strength, the scriptures will cause you to rise up and continue to stand tall, continue to stand upon the rock of the Lord.

I am going to close us out with prayer.   Heavenly Father I thank you, thank you for this opportunity to speak and really speak from my heart.  To expose the pain, trials, and suffering that I am going through in my own life Lord.  This was such a difficult message to write.  I have so much of my own pain and emotion that I have not let out and I have just been bottling it in and if I keep bottling it in then eventually I am just going to explode like a volcano.  Lord I pray for all of those out there that are suffering.  Whatever they are suffering from, I pray for them.  I pray for those who are trying to help them deal and cope to get through that suffering because they also need our prayers Lord, they also need Your strength.  Lord please be with us, be with us every day Lord and help keep us strong and help guide us Lord.  In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.

I want to thank you for taking a moment to listen.  If you need to reach out to me you can do so on Twitter @KNGMusic or on our website http://www.KNGMusicMinistry.com  I hope that things that we are posting are encouraging you.  One of the biggest things that we are trying to do is be real.  It is so easy to look at a preacher or a pastor or someone on TV and see all the good moments, you never see the bad stuff and think of wow they have such a perfect life.  There is no such thing as a perfect life; there is always something that we are going through as people, as humans, even as a Christian there is always a battle, there is always a struggle.  If you read through the Bible you will see it, it is never an easy road, there is always something going on, there is always a lesson that had to be learned.  There is always something that someone had to overcome.  Whatever you are going through, you are not alone, don’t give up, and keep pressing forward.  You found this message for some reason, and I hope that encourages you.  I hope the things that we are doing is not just so you can like it, RT it, or share it with someone else.  I hope it is encouraging, I hope it causes you to seek a deeper relationship with the Lord.  That is the real goal, purpose, everything to point people to Jesus, to point them to the truth.  Teach them how to go back, look at the scriptures, read it, absorb it, and use it to help build them up.  Well, before I start preaching again, let me just close it out.  Thank you for joining, have a blessed day.

This was my wife’s next blog post after listening to my podcast:

God’s Protection – Sermon Notes

Welcome back to Faith Matters.  I am so glad that you are able to take some time to listen to this podcast.  In life there is never a dull moment and if there is then give that dull moment to God and He will spice it up for you.  This past Friday we had the opportunity to assist and serve at a Chonda Pierce show.  In case you don’t know who she is, Chonda does Christian comedy.  I had never heard her before, but she had me rolling.  In serving that night we met Natalie who just recently got engaged.  My wife and I were able to pour into her life by giving her books to read, things to look out for, and how to Fireproof her marriage.  I say all of this because I have noticed that the more work that I am doing for God’s kingdom, the more the enemy tries to come against me and my family.  I will explain further as we get into the message for today.

Heavenly Father I want to thank you for the protection that you have placed over me and my family.  Without that protection I know I would not be here today.  Lord, keep us well, keep us strong, use us to do Your will.  Today let the words that I speak bring comfort to the ears that hear.  May Your word work within our souls to bring about the peace that comforts us daily.  Thank you for loving us, in the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Let’s start out with the definition of the word protection:

  1. a person or thing that prevents someone or something from suffering harm or injury.

2. a legal or other formal measure intended to preserve civil liberties and rights.

When looking for verses about protection I found this passage in 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5

3 Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you, 2 and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one. 4 And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things that we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.

I love the part when it says he will establish you and guard you against the evil one.  Let’s be honest, the world we live in today is far from safe.  People are attacking and killing each other and not just for survival.  When I was a child and was afraid of the dark I always went to my parents to be comforted.  They would protect me.  God the Father does that very same thing even though I am much older now.  I run to Him for His protection helps to bring me peace.  I pray for the Lord to bring comfort and calm into my life.  Without God in my life I would surely fall apart from the weight of this world, but with Him I am able to stand my ground, stand firm, and lean on God’s promises.

Another verse that I love is:

Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.

The world we live in is not just flesh and blood, but also spirit.  As I mentioned earlier, I was doing things to further God’s kingdom and the very next door I felt like I was being retaliated against.  Let me set the scene so you can picture this with me.  My oldest son and I were in the backyard and we wanted to do some yardwork.  One of the things that we have recently been doing is trimming the trees to allow more light into the yard.  We planted a peach tree, an orange tree, an olive tree, and even an avocado tree.  God has given us all these plants for our harvest and to help provide from the land.  My son pointed out a branch on one of the oak trees that he said we should trim.  I looked at it and agreed that it would definitely help allow more sunlight in.

This oak tree is not just any oak tree, but it is probably about 100 years old and the branch we were going to trim was the closest we could reach at the bottom so not just a normal branch but more like a baby tree.  I pulled out the ladder which for those of you who are ladder people we have a little giant.  I opened it up and fully extended it to be able to reach the tree limb.  So at this time I decided to climb up the ladder so I could reach the limb.  Now I am about 12 feet up, on the ladder, hugging the tree while I begin to trim this limb.  I was almost done with the chainsaw cut and I could begin to hear the sound of the wood cracking from the weight.  I made sure my oldest was out of the way while I finished the last cut.

All of a sudden that tree limb came straight down where we wanted it.  As it hit the ground, it was so big, that it started to fall towards the ladder.  It landed on the ladder with a crash and at that same time I came a tumbling down out of the tree.  I landed flat on my back, somehow underneath the tree.  I heard my son call out to me, “dad are you okay?”  I looked around from under the tree and said “yes, I am good.”  I rolled out from under the tree and looked at my hand.  My left middle finger had lost the skin on it from being pulled out of the tree.  I had a few scraps on my arms and the worst thing that happened was I had a puncture wound from a branch (I think).  I was excited as I jumped up and decided I should get a band aid for my finger so I could finish cleaning up.  My wife on the other hand after finding out what happened said I needed to get stitches on my leg.  I told her, “this is only a flesh wound.”  I was a good husband and did listen to my wife after hearing her plea and went to the doctor.  The doctor said I didn’t need stitches, they cleaned out the wound and gave me antibiotics to help make sure I didn’t get an infection.

Left picture my finger missing skin (at ER) & right picture is puncture wound in my leg (next day).

So far today the puncture wound in my leg has been healing very nicely.  It was been about 8 days since the fall and I have a nice scab on my leg.  Now the more interesting part is that after landing flat on my back that I didn’t have any back pain, I didn’t hit my head, and I didn’t break any bones.  I asked my oldest son if he saw anything while I was in the tree and falling.  He said he didn’t see anything, but it did look like he was watching a movie.  I don’t ever remember closing my eyes when the tree started coming down, but I do remember just seeing black the whole time until I was on my back.  I didn’t black out, but yet I couldn’t see with my natural eyes.  I will leave it at that and just give God the glory for protecting me and keeping me safe.  My wife says I am not allowed to trim anymore trees, but I think the jury is still out on that one.

I saw this verse in the book of Psalms and found it to be very fitting.

Psalm 3:3 But you, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.
I remember lifting my head and seeing that all was okay.  Thank you Lord for your protection over me no matter what I am doing, You are there with me.

Next I am going to read just a short passage about Samson.

Judges 16:15-17

15 And she said to him, “How can you say, ‘I love you,’ when your heart is not with me? You have mocked me these three times, and you have not told me where your great strength lies.” 16 And when she pressed him hard with her words day after day, and urged him, his soul was vexed to death. 17 And he told her all his heart, and said to her, “A razor has never come upon my head, for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother’s womb. If my head is shaved, then my strength will leave me, and I shall become weak and be like any other man.”

For those of you who have seen pictures of me you have probably seen my long hair.  Well my youth pastor and I decided it would be really awesome to weave him cutting my hair into his message about Samson.  I grew out my hair (for about 3+ years)  to donate it and allowing my youth pastor to cut it just gives it more meaning.  I will add a short clip of that moment into the notes online for those that would like to see.  It was a moment that the teens in our youth group will probably never forget.  My youth pastor mentioned it just the other day and said “man, I think that will probably be the best illustration that I will get to do.”  We have to be willing to do what it takes to bring the word of God alive and to create lasting memories for the youth of today.

Now, just a few days later from my tree accident, 5 days to be more exact, I found myself in another situation that could have ended my life.  My oldest son had a Lacrosse game and we were heading back home after the game was over.  Everything was awesome during the game, my son’s team won; I met and connected with another Christian parent that I had never talked to before.  We started sharing all the things that God is doing.  But that drive home is one that I will never forget.  I had my family in the van; we were heading out of downtown towards the bridge that takes us home.  The light had turned green so I proceeded driving forward.  It was dark, about 8:45 pm and we were driving on the expressway which is a 2 lane highway, heading to the bridge.  Now both of these lanes are heading east bound and all of a sudden I see head lights coming at me.  There is someone in a truck driving right at me.  I immediately started blowing my horn; I slowed down, and was able to swerve around him.  I looked back in my rear view mirror and saw that they hit the car behind me.  I pulled over the van, put on my hazard lights, and started to run back towards the accident.  This whole time I was fearing the worst because this truck was going at least 50 mph in the wrong direction before impact.

When I reached the accident scene there was a guy by the truck who looked dazed and confused.  I told him to sit down and that he was just in an accident.  I went over to the other car which had all the air bags deployed and talked with the woman who was hit.  She said she was okay.  Praise God that there were no fatalities.  Another guy that was passing by helped me move the cars out of the travel lanes so that traffic could get by.  Meanwhile my wife was on the phone with 911, still in the van so not knowing exactly how bad it was.  I pulled out my phone, turned on the flashlight, and started flagging traffic around the accident until the emergency vehicles arrived.  This whole time I was as cool as ice.  My wife even asked me how come I was so calm.  I had the peace of God about me; I saw how God protected me and my family.  God made sure that our van was not touched by this person that I believe was driving under the influence.

When I finally got home that night I gave God praise again for saving us.  Our whole life could have been drastically changed in just a few seconds.  I used it as a learning tool for my teenage driver and that even though you are driving carefully, doesn’t mean that other people are paying attention as well.  In that split moment there was not enough time to pray, there was just enough time to think and react.  My wife prays over our van every time she gets in.  She was in a terrible accident when she was younger and survived.  Never take life for granted because in a moment it could be gone.

Earlier I mentioned how this world is not just about flesh and blood, but a spiritual battle that is raging on.  I have given you a glimpse of some of the things that I have been doing for the kingdom and how the enemy tried to lash out and attack.  Let me leave you with this verse:

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Dear Lord, thank you again for rescuing me.  Thank you for putting a shield about me and my family.  Lord, I pray that you will continue to use me and my family to spread the gospel.  Let no man stand between us and doing Your will.  Father, today I pray for those who are out there who have lost someone in a car crash.  Just because You saved me, doesn’t make me any better.  Lord, I pray for the pain that they have had to endure with losing someone they love.  Lord, please bring them comfort and peace.  Allow them to know that all things work out for the glory of God.  Father we love you, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Thank you again for taking the time to listen to some of my testimony.  God is doing big things and I love watching Him unveil what He is doing next.  Most of the time I can’t wrap my head around what God is doing.  I just give Him praise and put my trust in Him because I know that He has my best interests in mind.  If you would like to reach out to me, you can do so on Twitter @KNGMusic or on our website http://www.KNGMusicMinistry.com  I pray that you have been blessed and encouraged to know that God is your protector.  Stay in the word and remember to always pray.  God Bless.

Draw Me Back To Thee – Poem

If I was poor

Would you open your door

If I was on the floor

Would you help me more

If I had no clothes in my drawer

Would you take me to a store

How many times

Would you offer your dime

How many rhymes

Must I share before you will climb

It is lunch time

The food I have is sour like a lime

How much would it cost

For you to help save the lost

How much food have you tossed

Speaking hot air like exhaust

It is cold, I can see the frost

Yet all you talk about is that cross

How can I focus on such a thing

My stomach is still growling

Just a piece of bread will make me sing

Warm me like a hot spring

I am still waiting for you to bring

Me to this Man that you call King

You talk about Him day and night

What good is that, I am full of fright

You talk of Jesus being a bright light

But in my darkness I have lost sight

Please oh please just share the highlights

Let your good news be my flashlight

Lead me back to where I belong

I walked away and I know I was wrong

I want to find my new song

So I can sing His praises all the day long

Can I come along

When is He coming, I hope it won’t be long

My body is weak

My outlook is bleak

The people call me a freak

My joints make loud creaks

Why is Jesus so unique

Please teach me to seek

You said He died for my sin

Why would anyone die for this has been

You said that Jesus did win

Conquered death, did He have a twin

When did this all begin

How can Jesus live within

I want to have this new life you speak of

I want to receive His love

Please God bless me from above

Show me Your truelove

I am ready to shove

The old me aside and fall in love

With the one who made me

The one who saved me

Jesus I need Thee

To open my heart with Your key

Please set me free

And draw me back to Thee!
