Waiting For A Breakthrough – Poem

Who am I

A question we all ask but why

Looking for the meaning of life

Yet this life cuts like a knife

A wound deep beneath the skin

Almost like it was built-in

Why do I have this pain

Building up like a bad sprain

Everyone offers help to lift you up

But that is only a momentary pickup

So today who has reached out

Who has helped me with this doubt

I implore you to never give up

Stop trying to cover-up

All the pain that holds you down

All the pain that causes you to frown

All the pain that makes you feel let down

All the pain that makes you want to breakdown

There has to be more

Than what you can buy in the store

I want you to keep singing

Your voice always in my ear bringing

My spirit up

Even when I have a buildup

Of pain

All caught in my brain

But the easy answer

Is there is no cure for cancer

Who dealt me these cards

I have always been on guard

Trying to protect the ones I love

Keep them close to me like a glove

But no matter how hard I try

The end continues to draw nigh

I want to enjoy today

Please don’t push me away

I know you are scared

But that is why Jesus shared

His life on the cross

To remind satan that He was the boss

Today I plead with you

To let go of everything that is making you blue

It is time to restore all that is true

God’s word kicks evil like Kung Fu

I can’t pull you through

But if you have faith Jesus will come through

Can I ask you a question

Will you stop all the aggression

Will you begin with confession

This is just my suggestion

Faith removes the depression

And leaves a positive impression

We are made in the image of God

Except Adam & Eve allowed us to become flawed

Nonetheless by the grace of God

We can now applaud

For God has given us a way

So we will no longer betray

The Son of Man

This has been God’s plan

To sacrifice His only Son

He said “it is finished” & then it was done

God help me remain strong

All the day long

Even when life happens

Help me to continue laughing

I give my life to You

I am waiting for a breakthrough

Do You Believe? – Sermon Notes

Welcome back to the next edition of faith matters.  I am glad that you were able to join us today.  Time for a quick update, my brother in Christ Jimmy got his new job.  Now get this, he started the new job RIGHT BEFORE his finances were going to run out.  That is God’s hand at work.  I told Jimmy that he wouldn’t get his new job until the exact time that he needed it.  I have seen God do that in my own walk so many times.  God loves each and everyone one of us.  Now wouldn’t you know that my wife’s job is in jeopardy yet again?  It appears that each time that she is about to make a break through the enemy begins to attack her.  No matter what, our faith remains in Jesus.

Let’s open up in prayer, Heavenly Father I thank you for today, I thank you for the sun that is shining, I thank you for the birds that prove your love, I thank you for a roof over my head, Lord I thank you for the many blessings that you have given me in my life.  Lord, I pray right now for anyone who is not thankful for the smallest things that You provide, open their eyes and their hearts so that they can see Your hand in their life daily.  In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Let us start out with the definition of believe:

To accept (something) as true; feel sure of the truth of.

Do you believe in Jesus?  Have you seen the recent movie “Do You Believe?”  I love the opening scene and how a man questions the faith of a person driving by.  The man of course responds “of course I believe I am a Pastor.”  I won’t go any deeper than that about the actual movie other than tell you that the movie is fantastic and helps challenge how deep are you taking your faith.

I wanted to talk about believing and whether or not you believe because if we really believed that Jesus died for our sins then what are we doing about it?  You see this was the biggest question that I have been facing over the past three years.  I wanted to do more, I wanted to reach more, but I kept telling myself that I wasn’t qualified, I couldn’t do it, I didn’t have the time, but in reality I was just making excuses.

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

You see, I thought sharing the Gospel was just for Missionaries and Pastors.  At the time I was neither one.  I have come to realized that each and every one of us is called to go out into the world and spread the Gospel.  I know you are probably thinking like I was yeah right, I can’t do that, but let’s be real and stop making the excuses and see what we can be doing.

I have challenged many people over the years to do something small.  You don’t have to sign up to preach at Churches, but you can start posting Bible verses on your Facebook page.  Oh wow, yes I just said that, post scriptures so that all of your friends, family, and co workers know you are Christian.  How many of them in your small circle don’t know you believe in Jesus?  And why is that?  Are you ashamed of your faith?  I kept quiet about my faith for far too long.  I could have been making a difference in the lives of others instead I was afraid of what people would think.

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
If you accept this challenge you will lose some friends.  I have to be up front and honest with you, but would you rather lose some friends because you are speaking the truth and telling them about Jesus or would you rather remain silent and let them end up in a burning lake of fire?

I think I need to repeat that so it sinks in, would you rather lose some friends because you are speaking the truth and telling them about Jesus or would you rather remain silent and let them end up in a burning lake of fire?

You see, if we truly loved those around us, we would have a burning desire in our heart to share Jesus so others could be saved.  It is not by your power, but by the saving grace of Jesus Christ who died on a cross for us all.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

What has God called you to do?  Have you listened?  Have you responded?  Have you taken that leap of faith?  Just recently someone on Twitter asked us to bring our music to South Florida.  Like most requests I didn’t think much of it so I responded that we would need a place to perform.  She said you can perform at our Church.  Little did I know that I was talking to one of the Pastors from the Church.  We exchanged information and began exchanging ideas.  She explained that she wants to start a revival with the youth there.  Our Youth Pastor has been preaching the same thing here in Jacksonville.  We need young people to get excited about God and what God is doing.  I took the leap of faith and said yes we can do this.  Now our team is working to write and produce music to perform in just two months from now.  I am excited to see what God is going to do.  I could have taken the easy way out and said that we can’t do it right now, it is too much work, or even my schedule is full, but instead I said yes because I want to see what God is going to do in and through us.  You see when you go out into the world to proclaim the name of Jesus, it is not just those who hear that are touched by the word of God, but also you as you minister to the lost.  We need to stop focusing on what we are going to get out of the encounter and just pour out our hearts.  God will bless us for being obedient.

I will give further updates in future podcasts as time approaches and this worship night to spark revival comes full circle.

Lord, I want to close us out today and just remind everyone listening that if You put the desire in our heart, then You will show us the way to accomplish the tasks.  There is no mountain too big that we can’t conquer with You on our side.  Lord, I pray that more people will learn to lean on You and trust that You always look out for our best interests.  Lord, keep us humble as You continue to use us to reach the lost.  All of this I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Thank you for taking the time to listen today.  I pray that I have challenged you to reexamine your walk with Jesus and that God will show you where He needs you to do more.  If you would like to reach out to me you can do so on Twitter @KNGMusic or via our website http://www.KNGMusicministry.com  Have a blessed day and live out loud for Christ.

Love Him Anyway

Dad's have big shoes to fill

Don’t take your dad for granted, he did the best he could for you despite all of the struggles that you never knew about.  Being a father doesn’t come with an instruction manual; it only comes with the knowledge of the father you had.  For some of us, that is all we needed and for others of us that means we had nothing.  My dad was awesome yet like others I never realized it or gave him the credit he deserved.  Don’t wait until your dad is gone to honor him; take a moment RIGHT NOW if it is not already too late and tell your dad thanks for doing the best that he could.  I love my dad tremendously and no amount of words can ever replace what he has taught me.  Dads may not have the best record of always being there, but my challenge to you is to make a difference in the life of someone, anyone.  Don’t be the dad that never had time for his kids, his family, or those he loved.

It Starts With You – Sermon Notes

Welcome back to Faith Matters.  I want to start off with some quick updates.  My dad is still doing well, he is on his last round of treatments for Cancer and we are praying that the test results come back all clear.  This week my wife had her performance for Relay for Life in St. Augustine.  She loves to be a part of the Relays, but after her mom passed away last year from Cancer being back at Relay was difficult to perform at.  For anyone out there that is battling Cancer I want you to know that our prayers are with you.  Don’t let Cancer beat you, remain rooted in the word of God, and His promises.

I want to thank my friend Will for introducing me to this new app called Periscope, which for those of you watching live understand exactly what it is.  This is the first sermon that I am attempting to record and broadcast live so bear with me if my eye contact isn’t up to par.  Normally I record the sermons to be played on the air waves, but doing them live definitely adds another dimension.  If you ever want to listen to previous sermons they can all be found on our website http://www.KNGMusicMinistry.com  If you like any of them you can download and share them with others.  I pray that the sermons bless you as you listen.

Before we go any further I would like to open up with prayer…

Recently my pastor has been using the line “it starts with you…” and this particular line has been stuck in my head.  For anyone who is Christian in your own family, it has all started with you.  You have the opportunity to reach out to those who are lost.  You have the unique connections to be the light among the darkness.  God chose you first because He wants to use and work through you.  He doesn’t need the next person YET, He needs you right now.

Matthew 5:16  In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

God doesn’t say just come to Church and I will do the rest.  God wants each of us to live out our lives in such a way that is not only pleasing to The Lord, but causes those who are lost to want whatever it is that you have.  We know it is the love of Christ that lives inside us, but all they see is your love, joy, hope, peace, all the gifts from God that are overflowing from you and splashing into their lives.

Do you know why God fills up our cups?  He fills us up with the Holy Spirit  so that we can pour out into others, not just your friends, not just your family, but anyone that we come in contact with.  Each person you connect with on a daily basis is an opportunity to shine out the light of what God is doing inside you.

Now in walking this path of righteous, in staying in the light, never forget where you came from.

Ephesians 5:8  For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

Let your light shine for The Lord, but never be judgmental of those who are still lost.  Telling others you are lost and going to hell is just going to build up a bigger wall that drives them away.  Be open to what the spirit leads you to do and say.  Lead with love and let the love of Christ work through you to reach them.  This is the best way that I have found to reach the lost.  Not everyone can be reached right away, we have to plant the seeds in their hearts and let God do the rest.

Back to my point, “it all starts with you”, what are you doing today to reach the lost, to spread the gospel?  If your answer is nothing then I need you stop right here, right now and ask yourself why aren’t you doing something?  If your spirit is saying I am doing something, BUT I know I could be doing more, and then yet again, why aren’t you doing more?  I speak these difficult questions not just to challenge you, but because I was in your shoes.  I went to church once or twice a week and that was all I did.  I wasn’t worried about spreading the gospel, ah that is for the missionaries, that is for my Pastor.  How quickly we forget that we were chosen also to be that light.

Let’s start small.  Do you have a Facebook account, a Twitter account, or maybe even an Instagram account?  I challenge you right here and now, start posting just one thing a day about God.  One thing about your walk, one thing about your testimony, one thing about how God has blessed you, one thing about how God has brought you out of a storm, one thing about how God has saved you.  That one thing could change the life of someone else that has never heard the gospel or maybe never decided to pursue God further.  Your social media page is a simple yet effective way to reach those that you have allowed into your circle.  Remember, those that we hang out with are usually the best examples of who we really are.  Do you hang out at the bars on the weekends spending time talking about nothing?  Do you go out to the club to dance and party until the wee hours of the morning?  Yes we are called to be the light in this world, but if you go out into the darkness without your armor on, without your shield, without your sword, then you will easily be overtaken by the darkness.

If God can save you, He can save your family, He can save your friends, He can save your workers, but it all starts with you.  This might sound like a lot of work, but in reality it isn’t.  It may be hard to turn down your friends, but if you know if your heart that going out with your friends is going to tempt you to partake in sinful things then the best way to avoid slipping up is to say no and stay away.  If you are the only one saved in your family then you need to pray.  Pray for those that you love, pray for those that are lost and blinded by their own sin; pray that God will open their hearts and cause them to see.  Remember that we should never put limits on what God can do.  You may not be able to see a way, the road may be dark, the road may be blocked off, but with Jesus all things are possible.  Don’t tell God what He can’t do, instead submit to God your weaknesses, your doubts, and then let God open your eyes to His limitless possibilities.

I want to close us out with prayer…

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to tune in and listen to Faith Matters.  We may not have it all together, but God is the creator of all things good.  God will lead you into the path that restores your life.  If you are still a mess, just know that God is still working on you.  God loves to take the worst sinner and recreate who they are.  I want to thank everyone for listening today.  If you would like to reach me you can do so on Twitter @KNGMusic or via our website http://www.KNGMusicMinistry.com It is never over until God says it is over so until then, keep praying, keep fighting, and keep your eyes on Jesus.  Have a blessed day.

On the Rock I Stand – Sermon Notes

Welcome back to the next session of Faith Matters.  God has been good to me, how about you?  I hope that everyone is having an awesome time with their family and friends for Easter.  Don’t forget that when you are together to share what Jesus has been doing in your life.  It is easy to be around those you know so well and only talk about what you have been missing and leave out what God is doing.

I recently found out that some of my friends from the radio station had an unfortunate event happen at their house.  I was reading what happened and my heart sunk in pain for them.  Long story short they came home to find out their house caught on fire due to an electrical issue.  Can you imagine being in their shoes at this very moment?  Where would you stay?  How do you afford to buy new clothes?  What are you going to eat?  So many questions that would be flooding through your mind, at that very moment.  I can tell you that this family is securely standing on their Rock.  I don’t just mean a normal rock that you find on the side of the road, but the Rock of all ages, Jesus.  Did you ask the normal question that any person who doesn’t believe in God would ask?  Why would God let such a precious family lose their house and all of their belongings?

I am here to tell you that God works in mysterious ways.  I am banking on the fact that some marvelous testimony of God’s love and outpouring from His people will surface.  I am believing that God has a new direction for the Burns family.  Sometimes it just happens that God has to prune our branches so that we can produce more fruit for Him.  The normal person would be upset and look at this as a setback, but the Burns family looks at the glass and says it is half full.  I had the opportunity to stop by and fellowship with them briefly on my travels in Georgia the other day.  I gave them a care package and of course some much needed hugs.  When you lose everything you have it helps us to realize what is more important in life.  Robert was telling me about his pillow and how he had the same pillow for years but in the motel the pillow wasn’t very comfortable so he had to beat it into something he could sleep on.  We both chuckled.  Even in the darkest hour God is shining bright.

Let us open up in prayer, Heavenly Father, although things happen in our lives, we don’t always know or understand your plan.  God we ask for those who are struggling today, that you will be their comforter.  For those who are trying to make ends meet, that you will provide for their needs in such a way that they will give you the glory.  God I thank you for what you have done in my life, I thank you for freeing up my finances to be able to provide for others in need.  Lord I pray that you continue to keep my heart and hands open to your blessings so that as you give to me I am able to flow those blessings into the lives of others.  Lord I thank you with all of my heart, in Your name we pray, Amen.

Speaking of Rocks, when life is falling apart who do you turn to?

2 Samuel 22:2  He said, “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,

When God is your Rock all of the burdens, problems, pain all seem to fade away

God is your deliverer, what does that mean to you?

God doesn’t sit back and watch you toil in vain, God comes to rescue, God delivers you out of your bondage

I feel like the biggest problem with using God as our Rock is those Christians who only call upon His name when trouble arises

Hebrews 13:8  Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

When you read the Bible are you letting the word of God speak to you?

Jesus came to earth to be the sacrifice for a lost world

Jesus hasn’t left you, He is always by your side just like He was with the disciples

Just like Jesus wanted then, He wants you to live your life pleasing to the Father

Love on another, don’t let anything cause you to harvest anger or resentment towards another

Matthew 4:7  Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

When the storm is raging have you ever tested God?

Have you ever tried to make a deal with The Lord?

I have to be honest, there was one time that I did test God

My daughter was sick; she had been sick like this more than once and was needed breathing treatments.  I was praying and begging God to heal her from this.  I asked God to take away her sickness and I promised that I would raise her to know Him.  I sat there with her in my arms while she was coughing, she was trying to sleep but the cough kept waking her up.  I know now that I should have never given God a response like this or like trying to make a deal with Him.  But as a parent when you are at your wits end, you get desperate.  Never let your desperation get you to the point that you even think to test The Lord.

About a year later due to life’s situations I was not seeing my daughter anymore.  I was concerned on many levels about this, but more so about my promise to The Lord.  I promised that I would raise her to know Him, yet how could I accomplish this if I was no longer able to see her.  I had to now pray on this matter constantly, that God’s hand would intervene and allow me to see her so that I could teach her about God.  God does work in mysterious ways; several times she called me to babysit for her.  I gladly said yes.  Other times she had to go out of town and asked me to watch her and I gladly said yes.  To me this was God opening the window to allow me to minister in her life.  This commitment was made between me and The Lord, her mother doesn’t know about my prayer to heal her several years ago.  I thank God every time I get to see her.

To understand more about my family situation you would have to go back and listen to my testimony.  God doesn’t allow us to go through storms without a purpose for Him.  Today I try to use all of my storms; I use them to show others the rainbow that comes after the storm.  God promises far exceed the trials that we must endure.  Don’t let your fear stop you in your tracks, God has a purpose for you and it shall be revealed to you when you are ready to receive it.

For those of you that are listening to this today, whether on the radio, through a podcast, through our sound cloud account, or maybe even through reading this online for those who are hearing impaired, I was told at a young age that I would preach the gospel one day.  I doubted this proclamation because I was a shy young boy who didn’t like speaking in front of the class.  God has a way of working on the hearts of men.  If God wants you to do something, He alone shall remove your fear and thrust you into an environment that will provide fruit for His people.  I never wanted to be famous, I never wanted to do more work than I had to, but God has placed a fire in my heart that I can’t put out.

God has set me on fire for Him.  Not to get my name in lights, but to give God the glory.  Today as we speak God has used our ministry to reach over 159 countries around the world just through YouTube.  My vision could never have understood what God was doing.  Today we have people reaching out to us for prayer.  I have relinquished control of my life to The Lord.  I have placed my fleshly desires to the side and answered His call.  I pray that God will continue to use me no matter what the circumstances.

My challenge to you today is this:

Are you doing enough? Are you doing what God has called you to do?  Are you sitting down waiting for God to knock you out of your chair before you will serve?  How many people will have to die that you know before you will begin to reach out in love and share the gospel of The Lord?  How long will you sit back and watch others trying to fight for your freedoms until you will stand up with them?  How many more laws controlling your religious freedoms will have to be written until you speak out?

I am not asking you to do something because of what I am saying.  I am asking you to seek out your own heart.  Seek out what God wants you to do with your life.  Are you standing on His rock today or are your feet in two different places?  People are dying around the world for our religious freedoms while we wait and watch the news.  God gave each of us our own unique life.  Don’t waste your life wishing you had done something for The Lord.  Make today the day that you start walking closer with God.  If God is calling you to post Bible verses to reach the lost then do it.  Don’t be afraid, don’t be ashamed.  If each Christian just did one small thing to show their love for God then you would see a massive change in the world.

I want to thank you for listening to Faith Matters.  Lord I thank you for the privilege that you have provided us here in America to worship you freely.  I pray for those around this world that are not able to stand upon the rock of their foundation for fear of their own lives.  Lord I pray that You will call out to the hearts of men, reach them, fill them with Your love so they can pour out that love upon the nations.  In Your name I pray, Amen.

If you would like to reach out to us you can do so on Twitter @KNGMusic or via our website http://www.KNGMusicMinistry.com We thank you for taking a moment to listen.  If you are in need remember that God is listening.  Don’t hold back your prayers, call out in His name and have faith that He will deliver.  I hope that this message has moved or blessed you today.  You can download the message for free on our website and share with others in need.  Have a marvelous day in The Lord.

What is the tallest mountain you have ever climbed?

I have a burning desire to help others.  God continues to place others in my path that need His guidance.  Ever start a job that will never be finished?  Reaching one person at a time for God is like climbing Mt. Everest but I am up for the challenge.  I have decided to take this summer off from school so that I can focus on reaching more people for Him through music, videos, and social media.  The stage has been set, He has put the burden of His people in my soul, now I must follow His lead and continue to reach out in His name.

We climbed this active volcano 2 years before it erupted.  How much strength does it take to keep moving until you reach the top?

My Challenge to You to Share God Daily

How are you reaching people for God?  I challenge you to really stop and think about this question.  Each day we each come into contact with random people that we don’t know.  How much of an impact could you be in their life if you shared the love of Christ with them?  It doesn’t always have to be in the form of a question “are you saved?”  We can each do our own part of sharing His love with our smiles, our words, or even our kind gestures.  Don’t be that mean and upset person who complains in line; leave that person at home and instead come out of your comfort zone to be the loving person that God wants us all to be.  If you have never tried it before then you will be amazed at how many people you can touch for The Lord.  Be careful because this type of love is addicting and you will find yourself giving of yourself more than you ever have in the past.

God Finds His Way Into The Workplace

One of my supervisors reached out to me yesterday because she had some questions on how to generate some new reports in one of our systems.  I was eager to assist and scheduled a meeting for us this morning to review all the options available.  We spent some time discussing all of the options and then she asked how many kids I have.  The actual number of kids I have is a difficult discussion because I originally thought I had two boys and one girl until last year when I found out my daughter isn’t really mine.  I explained a little bit of my situation and how God has used my situation to transform my life.

Last summer, I was leading a group of boys at the church with a program called Royal Rangers.  We were averaging almost 30 boys every Wednesday night and I was proud of the program that I helped build almost from the ground.  When I first decided to jump in about 8 years prior, there were only four boys that attended.  To take a program from four to 30 boys was such a blessing that God bestowed in my life.  After our annual campout, I prayed the ultimate prayer to God. This was my prayer: “God, I have done so much here with these boys to lead them to You. I pray that You use me in whatever manner necessary for me to be able to reach even more boys.  I give You my life to use so that I may do Your Will.”  At the time, I didn’t realize what a game changer it was going to be.  The Lord works in mysterious ways and sometimes He doesn’t reveal to you what the big picture is until further down the road.

In order for me to be used appropriately for The Lord, He had to open my eyes to the truth about my daughter and there the transformation began.  I am not an advocate for divorce so when I went through my own difficult battle, I tried the 30-day challenge from the movie “Fire Proof.”  I was fully willing to do whatever it took to keep my marriage.  At some point though, there comes that extremely difficult moment when you realize no matter what you try it just isn’t going to work because a marriage takes two people and if those two people are not of equal yoke then they pull opposite directions instead of moving together in one accord.

Through some of my examples, I was able to open up to this supervisor and explain that God has done some amazing changes in my life, but through these changes He has opened new doors.  I also commented about the fact that God uses each of us to touch the lives of others and even through this small meeting about work we were able to establish that we are both believers and build our bond together as Christians.  We must reach out to other Christians in any means available so that the Church body can continually build bonds and become stronger through relationships.  Society around the world is constantly changing and it is up to us to help bring our world back towards Christ.  We shouldn’t settle for the beliefs of others when we know that they are slowly taking away our rights to practice the freedom of religion.     – Nick
